Placement targeting options on Facebook and Instagram

You can select between Automatic or Manual placements on Facebook and Instagram.


Difference between Automatic and Manual Placements:

  • Automatic Placements or Advantage+ Placements:
    By default, if you don't make any selections, your Facebook ad will be set to Advantage Plus Placements. This automated approach leverages Meta's algorithm to strategically display your ad across various placements, including Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network, and more.

    This method is recommended as it can effectively reduce your cost per lead, cost per click, or cost per conversion.

  • Manual Placements:
    If you prefer a more hands-on approach, you now have the option to manually select specific placements for your ad.

    This allows for greater control and customization based on your campaign objectives and creative assets.


Where can I find the placements option?

  1. Access Targeting Section: Navigate to your ad creation interface and enter the targeting section. You will find the Placement's option at the button of this section.
  2. Automatic Placements: If you wish to stick with automatic placements, simply don't make any manual selections. Your ad will be set to Advantage+ Placements, reaching a broad audience.
  3. Manual Placements: If you want to specify your placements, explore the various options available such as Facebook Feed, Facebook Reels, Facebook Stories, Instagram Feed, and more.
  4. Toggle on or off the placements according to your preferences. For instance, if you have a vertical video, you might choose to display it exclusively on vertical placements.


Note: If you opt for Instagram-only placements, tap on the Instagram option. This will automatically deselect Facebook placements on Instagram.
